I would pay the small difference and get the Viper Max over the Classic.
The Max has upgraded switches and solenoids...and will handle the elements better.
If it was me I'd also upgrade to the synthetic rope.(which I did)

You'd be much better off getting at least a 2500lb winch,if not a 3k...2k is pushing its limits with a stuck Foreman...

Flint, Guess what? The Viper you are looking at is made by Superwinch. It's the Superwinch LT3000.
I love Superwinches, BUT, I want you to know that the LT series is the economy series from Superwinch.
They are still good winches. But, for not much more, Superwinch makes the Terra line which are very heavy duty, extremely well sealed and extremely reliable winches. For the money, they are the best value around. The Viper Max is actually a Superwinch Terra!
Nevertheless, if you have your heart set on the Viper Classic, you can get the exact same winch, under the Superwinch LT name, on Amazon for $124, which is less than the web site you referenced above.
While you're on Amazon, check out the Superwinch LT's as well as the Superwinch Terra's and you'll really be pleased with what you can find, and how little you'll pay. You can also order a winch mounting plate on

X2. The supers are great winches. They have good gearing to pull very well. Also, they are completely sealed from elements and made specifically for atv use. The contractor and controls, both the remote and handlebar mounted are sealed as well.

The Promark winches are pretty good too. They are inexpensive and pretty reliable, especially for the price. I would put mine up against any other winch any day.
