Throttle speed limiter?

Is there some way I can limit the throttle travel to help with limiting the speed for my child when they're operating my 2004 Rancher, with me aboard. Until she gets used to controlling the throttle I don't want her to accidently goose it and have it get away from the both of us.

There should be screw on the back of the throttle housing, I've never seen any Atv without one. Just turn that in and it stops it from moving so far.

x2, there should be a throttle stop screw on the back side of the throttle if your looking from the front of the quad. Sometimes people remove them... If so you may find a long, fine thread metric bolt to thread in the hole for it.

, you've obviously never ridden with a small excitable human... their reaction times seem to be so much quicker than ours, lol.

Whatever is currently in one piece... 400 prairie with stuff, 300 fourtrax, 500 sportsman, yz 125...

Exactly! What's the first thing they do when they get scared or excited? They "squeeze tight to hang on"! ....and we all know what that does to the throttle.

Thanks for the info. guys - I'll see of I can locate this screw y'all are talking about.

Guys, I don't see any type of screw, or a place where one may be missing.

It should be right behind the throttle lever, you can see it from the front of the machine on the throttle housing, It's probably a philips head and it'll be sticking out about an inch. It may be that it hasn't got one but I've never seen one without.

Even easier... Just adjust the throttle cable (out) so that when the throttle is completely depressed, it won't completely open the throttle.
