coolant in a rancher

I have a 2007 Honda rancher 420, it needs a little coolant to top it off. Is there a particular coolant I should use?

Whatever color is in it already. I'm assuming it's just the basic green stuff

I've owned many Hondas over the years, with 2, 3 and 4 wheels.
Im always buying and selling projects and parts

Use what is recommended, or equivalent there of, in your owners manual, personally I use a safe for all applications anti freeze from advance as long as it is aluminum block safe I do not see how it could make a lot of difference.

You need to use a silicate free coolant in all Honda atvs,motorcycles...Pretty much every box auto parts store carries the stuff, look for silicate free on the back of the label..Honda motorcycle/atv coolant will work if you are willing to pay about twice the going rate over Prestone extended life,Peak silicate free,or the blue Honda auto coolant which are all safe to use in your atv...

As others have said, use the silicate-free coolant, otherwise you will destroy your water pump in short order. Don't ask me why the other stuff works in cars but not in ATVs or motorcycles. BTW, even at the price Honda anti-freeze is a lot cheaper than replacing a water pump.

Everything is on its way to somewhere...
