banshee vs 450r need honest opinions

I have a 07 400ex with all the goodies and I dig the quad but I am looking for something faster. I am going to keep the 400 but I am looking to buy another quad. I live in arizona now but will be moving to colorado in the next month and I plan on riding woods trails and such. Right now I am debating between a banshee or a 450r. I have ridden banshees with a bit of suspension work and they did just fine on the trails. But.... Are banshees with minor bolt ons going to be unreliable? I like how the 450 reminds me of the 400 although I wish I had reverse although thats not a deal breaker. Are there any big differences between model years on the 450r?

oh yeah someone else also suggested a raptor 660...

Thoughts ????

Banshee would be a nice change up from your 400ex. If I was going to keep both I would go that route. 450R is going to be a lot like your 400ex but faster and better handling. Not different enough from a 400ex to own both imo.

As far as model year differences on the 450R, you would want to get a 2006 or later. The 04-05 were a tamer engine. 06 they made it more like the CRF dirt bike engine

Rob

I've owned many Hondas over the years, with 2, 3 and 4 wheels.
Im always buying and selling projects and parts

A 660 raptor sucks, A trx450r is the faster of the few your talking about, make sure to get a 06+ model though

the 400ex you have is about as reliable as your going to get though, I know a guy with a z400 that spanks my yfz450r and my trx450r

well you will probably have to rebuild the motors on both of them every year but the newer 450s have electric start which the banshee doesn't and the suspension on the banshee isn't that great, the 450r will have a lot better handling plus its a newer up to date machine that will hold its value more.on the other hand the 450r requires frequent oil changes and valve adjustments, the banshees are pretty much meant for speed and the 450r is meant for racing.neither of them are really trail machines but the 450 would probably handle better in the trails than a banshee.for me not having electric start would be a deal breaker kick start sucks .my opinion would be to go with the 450er but the banshee is still a good wheeler

What is your budget? You will have a harder time finding a nice Banshee over a 450R, thats how it is in my area. If trails are your main riding spots, you are going to want to upgrade the banshees shocks immediately if they are still stock, where the 450R's will be just fine. Are you only looking at the Honda 450, or other brands as well? Everyone makes a good 450 these days, you just have to stay clear of the strickly race bikes. You could always sell your 400EX and get one fast and sporty trail quad. The 700 Raptors are much different than the 660's and definately more reliable, the Polaris Outlaw 525 IRS's are sweet machines even though they are Polaris they are an excellent quad. As much power as my 700XX with similar IRS suspension, but a lot lighter.

yoshimura and lrd are the best brands in my book i think you will probably gain 2 or 3 hp from a full exhaust i have a yoshi slip on and it made a big difference
